Hang out Online

There are so many places to hang out online that the common question, "Where are we going on Friday night?" will no longer be in reference to the real word. No longer do people have to leave their houses to meet and have fun. Be it rain or snow, there are always people online ready to interact, learn, and have fun. This article will present a few popular places to hang out online.

First there are social group networks such as Myspace, Facebook and Hi5. These sites allow the creation of personal webpages, and free access to these pages by members of the community. Facebook had developed the reputation of being a selective network for college students, however in September 2006, they opened their doors to the world. Even with this change, Facebook still remains an intricate part of the lives of many American college students. Myspace and Hi5 are also excellent hangout spots, and Myspace has taken on the reputation of being the most popular social networking site. There are not only personal pages on Myspace, but also an extensive collection of artist pages, and videos posted by users. So if you would like to bond with your favorite artist on a Friday night, it's possible that you can catch them online, or at the least leave them a message to tell them how much you love them. Alternatively, you can browse the video collection, and comment yourself away into the night.

However, when it comes to videos, Myspace is dwarfed by Youtube which is the second hangout spot on my list. Youtube was founded in February 2005, and can be viewed as the video media center of the internet. The greatness in Youtube as a hangout spot is not due entirely to its extensive collection of movies, but to its active members, who love to comment and discuss video postings. You are allowed to either write a text comment to video, or leave a video response, which makes the "conversation" a bit like real life.

Thirdly, there are weblogs and forums. Forums and blogs receive a lot of attention, and the conversations taking place on these sites run from the nonsensical to the educational. A newcomer to this arena which looks rather promising and provides both blogging and forums is Dexter's Place. Within the blogging and commenting world, there are topics to interest just about anyone, and you can quickly find a topic and immerse yourself into it for an enjoyable night.

Fourthly, there are game rooms. Yahoo games and Iwin games are good game sites that offer the opportunity for gamers to interact and develop friendships. So while enjoying a good game of chess, checkers or pool, you can interact with other gamers. And when you are not playing a game, you can hang out in the lobby with the other gamers and have lobby wide discussions on just about any topics.
